Namami Gange Programme
Namami Ganga is a flagship program implemented by the national council for the rejuvenation, protection, and management of river Ganga. it is also called the National Ganga council. it is dealing with the reduction of pollution in the Ganga river. The program is maintained by the Ministry of Jal shakti. This program was conducted with a budget of Rs 20000 crore.
Steps toward the Namami Ganga program
There are various steps are taken towards a clean Ganga this is as follows.

Phases of Namami Ganga program
The program is divided into two phases which are as below.
1. First Phase: The program is connected with the world bank. The world bank provides funds to the government of India to clean the ganga.
2. Second Phase: In the second phase it completes the Hybrid annuity project, cleaning project, and DOBT project.
Objective of Namami Ganga program
1. To maintain the water quality of the ganga surface.
2. To maintain the continuity of the flow of water without changing the natural way of river Ganga.
3. To control pollution of the river to check the inflow of sewage.
4. To generate the natural vegetation of the nearby area.
5. To protect the aquatic biodiversity of the river Ganga basin.
6. To permit the people to the process of rejuvenation, management, and protection.

Challenges faced by Namami ganga program
1. Mismanagement of governance: lack of monitoring and administration the program is not reaching the expectation.
2. Break down of e-flow normed: It is found that the hydropower project is not utilized properly.
3. Pollution: Not proper use of sewage system e.g. Bihar ,Uttarakhand, west Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, and . industrial pollution is directly connected with the river Ganga.
Illegal construction: Illegal construction nearby the river becomes a reason for not getting the success of the namami Ganga program.
