In the history of India Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is one of the most popular schemes. it is launched on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti to fulfill the dream of Mahatma Gandhi to clean India. this scheme is run all over India. It deals with the all town, rural and urban areas of the country. 

This mission is divided into two categories that are in rural areas and urban areas. The Rural area is controlled and monitored by the Ministry of Jal shakti and the Urban area is covered under the Ministry Of Housing and urban affairs.




Objective Of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan


 1. To eliminate open defection and improve solid west management.

2. To change the behavior change concerning sanitation practices.

3. Reduction of manual scavenging.

4. Safe and adequate water supply to every person.


Phases of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan


1. First Phase: The duration of the first phase is 2014-2019

2. Second Phase: The second phase is implemented between 2020-2021 and 2024-2025.


Component of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan


The Scheme is divided into main six components which are as below.

1. Solid west water treatment

2. Construction of Public and clean toilet

3. Solid waste management

4. Building capacity.

5. Information and education communication and public awareness.

6. Community Toilet

Apart from cleanliness, the scheme is deal with swachhta Pakhwada, Plastic se Raksha, Swachhta hee seva and Swachhta Shramadaaan, etc.


Achievement of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan


1. The appraisal by the ministry found that more than 110 million individual household-level toilets have been constructed in rural areas and more than 5 households construct toilets in the urban area.

2. Approximately 6 million public toilets are constructed in urban areas.

3. Approximately more than 2 lakh sanatory complexes are constructed.

4. Approximately 5000 cities and more than 61000 villages across the country are declared as open defecation free.

5. Well management of solid waste management.

6. As per the world bank report it is declared that 96%indians have a toilet to use.
